Fare and Booking Information
 

If you are making a reservation via the online availability reservation system, the following fares are available -

1. Individual Fares -

a. Adult Fare -

This is a global fare is available to all passengers whether you are a New Zealand resident or if you reside outside New Zealand.

b. Saver Fare -

This is a global fare and is subject to availability at the time of a reservation being made.

c. Backpackpacker/YHA/VIP/NOMAD Fares -

This is a global fare and is subject to availability at the of a reservation being made for backpakers or YHA, VIP or Nomad card holders.

d. Senior Citizens Fare -

This is a global fare for people over 60 years old and is subject to availability at the time of a reservation being made.

e. Student Fares -

This is a global fare and is subject to availability at the time of a reservation being made.

Identification may be required.

f. Child Fares

A child is 2-15yrs and must be accompanied by an adult.

An Infant under 2yrs not occupying a seat travels free.

2. Group Fares -

Group fares available to any group travel from within New Zealand or from overseas.

4. Fare Rules -

* All fares are subject to availability
* All fares are available or transferable up 4 Days prior to travel date..
* All fares are non-refundable and non-transferable after check in has been completed.
* All fares, services and facilities are subject to change without notice.
* No refund once travel of the first leg has been undertaken.

All fares are subject to availability until a reservations has been confirmed and paid for.

All fares are based one way 'Point to Point' travel.

Reservations -

All passengers travelling on the Overland Connection train/ferry service must have a reservation.

Any reservation submitted unless less than 7 Days prior to travel date - payment must by a Visa/Mastercard credit/checking/Debit card (Not Visa Electron Card), Diners Club Credit Card, American Express Credit Card, Cheque (New Zealand only) or Internet Banking (New Zealand only).

A ll prices quoted are in New Zealand dollars and include Goods and Service tax. All fares are subject to availability and may be changed without notice.

Overseas Travel Agents, your Client is booked on the 'Standard' Fare and standard Travel Agent's commission is paid.

Payment -

When you make a reservation, a payment due date will be advised on your email confirmation. If payment has not been advised by that date your reservation will be cancelled.

All payments are to be by a credit/debit/checking card - Visa (Not Visa Electron Card), Mastercard, Diners Club and Amercian Express and will be processed by IPay NewZealand/IPay NZ Ltd

Payment can be by either cheque or Internet Banking, as long as the bank is located in New Zealand and has inter-bank transaction facility.

Payment by Internet banking must be paid not less than 36 hours prior to travel date.

If payment is by Internet Banking (New Zealand Only), please allow over night processing.

For New Zealand residents only - Payment can be also by a cheque drawn on a New Zealand Bank or by Internet Banking.

If payment is by a credit card and if you dispute your credit card charge as - 'Transaction not authorised by the cardholder' and if it is found that you had been checked in and travel on the service you had made a reservation for, there will be a NZ$25.00 fee to process your credit card dispute.

Change/Refund/Cancellation Conditions -


All refund requests must be made up to 7 days prior to the scheduled departure date. Cancellations are subject to the following refund conditions -

a. Adult Fare* -

* On free change of travel date is allowed up to 3 Days prior to travel date. Any additional changes to travel date prior to 3 days before travel date is NZ$20.00 per change
* A full refund up to 15 days prior to travel date, 25% Cancellation Fee applies 14-8 days prior to travel date, 50% Cancellation Fee applies 7-3 days prior to travel date and and No Refund within 48 hours prior to travel date
* No refunds if there is a 'No Show' departure
* No refunds on un-used travel sector/s

b. Saver Fare* -

*No change to travel date.
* A 50% Cancellation Fee applies up to 3 days prior to travel date and and No Refund within 48 hours prior to travel date
* No refunds if there is a 'No Show' departure
* No refunds on un-used travel sector/s

c. YHA/VIP/NOMAD/Backpackers Fare* -

* On free change of travel date is allowed up to 3 Days prior to travel date. Any additional changes to travel date prior to 3 days before travel date is NZ$20.00 per change
* A full refund will be given up to 15 days prior to travel date, 25% Cancellation Fee applies 14-8 days prior to travel date, 50% Cancellation Fee applies 7-3 days prior to travel date and and No Refund within 48 hours prior to travel date
* No refunds if there is a 'No Show' departure
* No refunds on un-used travel sector/s

d. Senior Citizen Fare* -

* An additional Electronic Card Refund Fee of 10-20% will be charged by Rail New Zealand if a reservation is cancelled after the 'E-Ticket' or 'Travel/Tour Voucher' has been issued.

If you are traveling on The Overland Connection train/ferry service and you live outside New Zealand, it is strongly recommend that you have the necessary travel insurance to cover any disruption or cancellation of your travel plans whilst in New Zealand.

All reservations and the issuance of a 'Travel Voucher' to travel on The Overland Connection train/ferry service is subject to the terms of the respective Operator's Conditions of Carriage.

The Operators providing services in The Overland Connection train/ferry service has the right to amend, change, subsitute other transport operator/s or change any service due to operational or weather conditions.

The Operators providing services in The Overland Connection train/ferry service are not responsible or liable for any loss, damage or expense incurred by passengers as a result of the failure of the service to operate or depart or arrive at the scheduled time or location.

Any dispute/s concerning a reservation comes under New Zealand law and is to be heard in a New Zealand Court of Law.
